Major announcement: Taber will be using the new S-33 sandpaper

Due to the discontinuation of the production of P360 sandpaper used to make S-33 sandpaper, Taber has had to discontinue the supply of the original S-33 sandpaper and produce S-33 sandpaper from a new raw material, which involves a change in the evaluation criteria for the sandpaper.

Changes to the evaluation criteria

The standard EN 13310 section 5.7.4, which assesses the conformity of the sandpaper, requires that the weight loss of the S-34 zinc sheet must be in the range of 130 +/- 20 mg after an abrasion test on the S-34 zinc sheet with a grade P360 sandpaper.

After evaluation, TABER found that the same grade of P360 abrasive paper could not be met, so the evaluation had to be extended and 3M's P320A abrasive paper was finally targeted. It was the closest match to the original S-33 abrasive paper and its abrasion test weight loss on the S-34 zinc plate was tested at 129.6mg, meeting the acceptable range specified in the standard.

The average particle size of the discontinued P360 paper is approximately 40.5 microns, while the average particle size of the P320A paper used to produce the new S-33 paper is 46.2 microns.
