What are the two types of tensile testing machines?

Textile tensile testing machine is a device used to evaluate the tensile properties of textile materials. According to different test objects, textile tensile testing machine can be divided into two types: single fiber tensile testing machine and fabric tensile testing machine.


1. Single fiber tensile testing machine:

    Single fiber tensile testing machine is used to test the mechanical properties of single fiber in textiles. It is mainly used to evaluate the strength, elongation, breaking strength and other indicators of the fiber itself. The testing machine usually includes the following components:

    - Extension device: used to clamp and fix the two ends of the fiber sample and apply tensile force.

    - Load Cell: Used to measure the force exerted on the fiber.

    - Displacement sensor: used to measure the elongation of the fiber.

    - Control system: used to control the applied force and record displacement data.

    - Data acquisition and analysis software: for recording and analyzing experimental data.

When performing a single fiber tensile test, the fiber sample is clamped in the drawing device, and the fiber is gradually stretched by applying a tensile force, while measuring the applied force and the elongation of the fiber. Based on the obtained data, the stress-strain curve of the fiber can be drawn to evaluate the mechanical properties of the fiber.


2. Fabric tensile testing machine:

    The fabric tensile testing machine is used to test the tensile properties of the entire fabric. It is mainly used to evaluate the strength, elongation, breaking strength, elastic recovery and other indicators of fabrics. The testing machine usually includes the following components:

    - Clamping device: used to clamp both ends of the fabric sample and apply tensile force.

    - Load Cell: Used to measure the force exerted on the fabric.

    - Displacement sensor: used to measure the elongation of the fabric.

    - Control system: used to control the applied force and record displacement data.

    - Data acquisition and analysis software: for recording and analyzing experimental data.


In the fabric tensile test, the fabric sample is clamped in the stretching device, and the fabric is gradually stretched by applying a tensile force, while measuring the applied force and the elongation of the fabric. According to the obtained data, the stress-strain curve of the fabric can be drawn to evaluate the mechanical properties of the fabric.


The choice of textile tensile testing machine depends on the purpose of the test and the type of sample. Single fiber tensile testing machines are suitable for evaluating the properties of fibers, while fabric tensile testing machines are suitable for evaluating the properties of whole fabrics. These testing machines play an important role in fiber material research and development, fabric quality control and product performance evaluation.
