The Carpet Abrasion Tester is designed to evaluate the wear resistance of carpets by measuring material loss under controlled friction conditions. You can use this instrument to simulate real abrasion during use and determine the durability and service life of carpet materials.

Application

You can use this tester for:

Residential and commercial carpets

Textile floor coverings and rugs

Carpet tiles and backing materials

Quality control of carpet abrasion resistance

R&D testing for material durability and wear performance

Standards

The instrument complies with relevant international standards:

(1) BS EN 1813:1998 – Determination of abrasion resistance of textile floor coverings

(2) PD 6527:1990 Method 17 – Carpet abrasion testing method

Parameters

Parameter Specification
Dimensions (W×D×H) 330 × 330 × 550 mm
Power 375 W
Consumables SM25 Abrasive Cloth; Polyester Abrasive Cloth
Accessories (Consumable) Adhesive Backing; Carpet Sample Holder

Features

You can evaluate carpet abrasion resistance using standardized friction methods.

Suitable for small sample weight loss testing after abrasion cycles.

Provides fast testing, typically completing each sample within 30 minutes.

Widely used in industrial carpet quality control applications.Accessories

(1) Carpet Sample Holder

(2) SM25 Abrasive Cloth

(3) Polyester Abrasive Cloth

(4) Adhesive Backing

Test Procedures

Prepare a circular carpet sample with a diameter of 38 mm.

Fix the sample and abrasive material onto the rotating shafts.

Apply the specified load to achieve a pressure of 0.56 kg/cm².

Set the required number of abrasion cycles on the counter.

Start the test; both shafts rotate at the same speed and direction to generate friction.

After testing, measure the weight loss after 5000 cycles or record cycles until the backing is exposed.
